Community Connection: Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis - SEMO
Shine+Support: A Community Connection Recap
On Saturday, March 15, we gathered at Amity Yoga for Shine+Support, a special Community Connection class benefiting the Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis (DSAGSL). This event reflected our commitment to fostering inclusion and supporting individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
A Meaningful Cause
We were honored to welcome Maria Marzuco, representing the Southeast Missouri division of DSAGSL, who shared about the incredible work the organization does to support individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Maria told us about a recent fashion show that brought so much joy to the participants and shared other meaningful activities DSAGSL organizes to create connection and opportunity.
Maria also shared her very personal “why” behind the work she does. Her story was heartfelt and truly inspirational, reminding us how important it is to create a supportive and inclusive community.
The Class
Participants joined us for an uplifting yoga flow designed to cultivate strength, connection, and gratitude. Together, we focused on shining our light and supporting others, creating a meaningful space for movement and reflection.
The Impact
Thanks to the generosity of our attendees, we raised $150 to benefit DSAGSL. These funds will help provide vital programs and resources that make a lasting impact on individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
Looking Ahead
At Amity Yoga, we believe yoga is more than movement—it’s a tool for connection and change. Through our monthly Community Connection classes, we aim to bring awareness to important causes and inspire collective action.
