Community Connection: Southeast Missouri Network Against Sexual Violence

Empower+Restore: A Community Connection Recap

On Saturday, April 5, we gathered at Amity Yoga for Empower+Restore, a special Community Connection class benefiting the Southeast Missouri Network Against Sexual Violence (SEMO-NASV). This event reflected our commitment to supporting efforts in our community that promote healing, advocacy, and safe spaces for all.

A Meaningful Cause

We were honored to welcome Alix Gasser, Executive Director of SEMO-NASV, who shared about the

vital work their team does to support survivors of sexual violence and child abuse throughout Southeast Missouri. From providing forensic services and crisis counseling to advocating for survivors and educating the community, SEMO-NASV plays a crucial role in helping individuals heal with dignity and support.

The Class

Participants joined us for a heart-opening yoga flow designed to prepare ourselves to not only receive love and support, but also to share love, encouragement, and support with others.

The Impact

Thanks to the generosity of our attendees, we raised over $200 to benefit SEMO-NASV. These funds will help provide critical services such as forensic exams, trauma-informed counseling, and advocacy for survivors in our region — ensuring that every individual who walks through their doors is met with care, compassion, and support.

Looking Ahead

At Amity Yoga, we believe yoga is more than movement—it’s a tool for connection and change. Through our monthly Community Connection classes, we aim to bring awareness to important causes and inspire collective action.
